What we know about you. Which isn’t much.

Most privacy policies are written to protect the company. This one is written to be read. If you fill in the form we get your name and your email, because otherwise we can’t reply. That’s very nearly the whole story — the rest is detail.

The short version

Four things, then the detail.

  1. We collect what you type

Name, business, email, town and your message — from the contact form or a direct email. Nothing else comes from you.

  2. We don’t sell it

Not to anyone, ever. No mailing list you didn’t ask for, no data brokers, no advertising networks. It exists to let us answer you.

  3. Analytics, and the cookie

We count visits with Google Analytics and HeyCatch, both of which store an identifier in your browser. Section 3 says exactly what that means and how to stop it.

  4. Ask and it’s gone

Email us and we delete what we hold about you, usually the same day. You don’t have to give a reason or fill in a form.

What we collect

If you use the contact form, we collect your name, your business name, your email address, your town, the website address you gave us if you gave one, and whatever you wrote in the message. We also record which page you were on when you sent it, the country your connection came from — Cloudflare’s guess from the network, never your IP address, which we don’t store — and, when the link you arrived by identifies itself, where you came from. If you email us directly, we get your email address and what you wrote. If you text us, we get your mobile number and what you sent.

If you use the chat assistant, we keep the questions you type and the answers it gave, with the page you asked from and the country your connection came from — no IP address, no name, and no cookie. Your name and email are collected only if you choose to leave them so one of us can reply, and then they’re handled exactly like a contact form message.

If you use live chat — the “Chat with us live” link at the bottom of every page — you talk to one of us through tawk.to, and they hold the conversation along with whatever name or email you choose to give.

If you sign up for our newsletter, we keep your email address and your name if you gave it. As proof that you asked to hear from us, we also keep when you signed up and confirmed, the page you signed up on, your IP address and browser, and the exact words you agreed to. When we send a newsletter, our email provider tells us whether it was delivered and opened and which links were clicked.

If you become a client, we also hold what you send us to build and run your site: text, photos, your hours, your services, your domain details, and the billing name and address on your invoices. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and never touch our systems.

That is the complete list. We don’t buy data about you, we don’t enrich what you gave us from third-party databases, and we don’t build a profile of you.

Why we have it, and for how long

We use what you send us to reply to you, to build your site, and — if you become a client — to run your site and your Google listing and to invoice you. We read chat assistant questions to find what our pages don’t yet explain well. That’s the whole purpose. We do not use it for marketing to you unless you ask to hear from us.

Inquiries that go nowhere, and chat assistant questions, are deleted within twelve months. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe, which takes one click from any of our emails. A sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after seven days. Once you unsubscribe nothing more is sent. We keep the record, marked unsubscribed, so the address isn’t emailed again by mistake, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. Client records are kept for as long as you are a client and for thirty days after you leave, except invoices, which we keep for seven years because tax law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which pages people actually read. It sets cookies in your browser — typically `_ga` and one named for this site — that give you a random identifier so a returning visit isn’t counted twice. We do not enable Google’s advertising features, we do not build remarketing audiences, and we never send Google your name, your email or anything you typed into the form.

We also use HeyCatch, the marketing firm that helps us reach small businesses, to see how visitors find this site and move through it: which pages they open, what they click and where they came from. It stores a random identifier in your browser’s cookies and local storage so a returning visit is recognized, and it loads from HeyCatch and its code host, esm.sh. We do not send it your name, your email or anything you typed into a form. The same blockers and opt-outs above apply, and nothing on this site will break if you use them.

We also use Cloudflare Turnstile on the contact form, which confirms you’re a person and not a spam script. It sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us a cookie-free count of traffic as a cross-check.

Live chat is run by tawk.to, and nothing from them loads until you click “Chat with us live”. Only then does their chat window load, and it sets its own cookies and browser storage so the conversation survives moving between pages. If you never click it, they never hear from your browser.

If you would rather not be counted, a browser set to block third-party cookies, a tracker blocker, or Google’s official opt-out add-on will all stop it, and nothing on this site will break. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.

Who else sees it

A handful of companies process data on our behalf because running a website requires them. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, security and the spam check on the form.
  • Google — analytics, and your Business Profile if you’re on that plan.
  • Anthropic — the AI model behind the chat assistant. It receives the conversation you type so it can answer, and under its commercial terms does not train on it.
  • tawk.to — live chat, if you choose to open it. It receives the conversation and anything you type into it.
  • Our email provider — delivers your form submission to our inbox and our replies to you.
  • Our text message provider — carries texts between you and our number, if you text us.
  • Our payment processor — takes payment and holds the card details we never see.

Nobody else. We don’t sell or rent your information, and we have never received a government request for it. If we ever do, we will tell you unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.

Text messages

Clients can text our number to ask for a change to their website. You start the conversation: we give you the number when you become a client, and we only ever text you back about a request you sent — to confirm we received it, to ask a question about it, or to tell you it’s live. We never send marketing or promotional texts, and we never text anyone who hasn’t texted us first.

If you text us, we use your mobile number and the content of your messages, including any photos, only to handle your request and reply about it. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Message frequency depends on your requests. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts from us, or HELP for help. You can always reach us at info@pagetend.com instead.

The people who visit your site

If you’re a client, the sites we build for you are governed by this policy too. They set no cookies at all unless you ask us to add something that needs them, and we will tell you plainly if a request would change that. We count page views, and the site that linked to the page, so we can tell you how your site is doing; the count uses no cookie and stores nothing that identifies a visitor, so it shows page views, never who they were. Your contact form sends straight to your inbox; we don’t keep a copy. A sign-up or registration form we build for you is different: its entries are stored so you can see, search and download them in your client portal, and we delete them when you ask or when you leave us. Either way, we don’t market to your customers. Their data is yours.

Sites we build before you ask

We sometimes build a site for a business that hasn’t asked for one, using only information that is already public — what’s on your current site, your Google listing, your public photos. A site built this way is unlisted, carries `noindex` so search engines skip it, and is sent only to the business it was made for.

We never scrape private social accounts, and we never use a photo we don’t have the right to use. Ask us to take a site down and it’s gone the same day, with no follow-up email.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also be able to object to how we use it or ask for it in a portable format.

We don’t make you fill in a form or prove a legal basis. Email info@pagetend.com and we will action it, usually the same day and always within thirty days. It is free, and asking will never affect how we treat you as a client.

Children

This is a service for businesses. It isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

When this changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters — a new processor, a new category of data, a new cookie — we update the date at the top and, if you’re a client, we email you. We don’t make material changes quietly and backdate them.

Talk to a person about it

Questions about this policy, or about anything we hold on you, go to info@pagetend.com. A person reads that inbox on business days and answers within one business day.
