A flat illustration of a misty lake at dawn, pine forest on the shore and hills behind

Features · Video hero

A front page that moves, and still loads fast.

A slow, silent loop plays behind your headline, so the first thing a visitor sees feels alive. Phones, and anyone who prefers less motion, get a still photo instead. This page opens with one: a made-up lake at dawn.

What your visitors get

Motion where it helps, a calm still photo where it does not, and a page that stays quick either way.

  1. A first look that feels alive

Steam off a coffee cup, a saw cutting, waves on the shore. A few seconds of movement says more about your place than any headline.

  2. Fast, even on slow Wi-Fi

The still photo appears right away and the video loads only after the page is ready, so visitors never wait for it.

  3. A still photo on phones

On a phone the hero shows the still, which saves your visitors’ data and battery and keeps the page quick.

  4. Kind to every visitor

Anyone whose device asks for less motion sees the still, and everyone else gets a pause button, as accessibility guidelines ask.

  5. No YouTube, no ads

The clip is a small file served with your site, not an embedded player. No ads, no suggested videos, no tracking.

  6. Words search engines can read

Your headline and buttons stay real text over the video, so Google and screen readers read them as they would any page.

How it works

Three things happen when someone opens the page.

  1. The still photo shows first

The first frame of your clip appears at once, like any photo, so the page looks finished from the first moment.

  2. The loop fades in

On a laptop or desktop the video loads after the page and fades in over the photo, so you never see a black box or a jump.

  3. It rests when not needed

Scroll past it and it pauses. Press pause and it stops. On a phone or with reduced motion it never starts at all.

How we set it up

Send us 10 to 20 seconds of video from your phone: your kitchen at opening time, the shop floor, the view from your porch. Hold it steady, sideways, and let the scene move rather than the camera. We trim it into a seamless loop, take the sound out, shrink it to a small file and pick the still, then show you the page before anything goes live.

No clip yet? We open with a photo and switch to the video on the day you send one. The loop on this page is our own animation; for your site we use your footage, or stock footage that is licensed for business use.
