Client story · Home kitchen · Arlington, VA

From word of mouth to an ordering site in a day.

Wei cooks home-style Chinese meals for friends and neighbors in DC, Arlington and Crystal City. Her orders came by word of mouth. She asked for a simple page where people could see the dishes and order.

The story

Where they started, what we built, how it runs now.

  1. Where she started

No website. Her brief was short: a simple single page is fine, and an acknowledgement email if possible. She sent her ideas and photos of her dishes.

  2. What we built

One page on her own domain, weiskitchen.app: her ten dishes with photos and names in English and Chinese, prices, delivery area, and an order form where customers tick the dishes they want. Every order gets a receipt, and an "On the way" email when it leaves her kitchen.

  3. How it runs now

Orders arrive by email. When she changes something, she emails us. On launch day she moved two dishes to $18, and the menu and the order form changed together, because one list feeds both.

On a phone

Ordering from a phone.

The dishes, the prices and the order button are all a thumb away. Nothing to pinch or zoom.

  • I can't believe my website was up and running within a day. All I had to do was share my ideas and a few photos — the menu, the order form, the emails to my customers, everything else just appeared. An amazing experience!
