What a Storefront Checkup looks at, and a free one for Somerville Chamber members
A Storefront Checkup is a written review of your website and Google listing by a real person. See what we check and what the report looks like. Free for Somerville Chamber members.

If a customer looked you up on their phone right now, would they find you, trust you and be able to reach you? Most people searching for a local business are on a phone, and most owners have never seen their business from that side.
A Storefront Checkup is how you find out. A real person goes through your website and your Google Business Profile the way a customer would, then writes you a report in plain words: what is working, what is costing you customers, and what to do about it.
Free for Somerville Chamber members
PageTend is offering every Somerville Chamber of Commerce member a Storefront Checkup at no charge, a $250 value, through December 20. The promo code is in our Hot Deals listing on the Chamber's website. Then order your checkup and enter the code in the Promo Code box.
Not a member? The checkup is $250, one time.
What we check on your website
We look from the outside, the way customers and Google do. We need no passwords, and nothing on your site is changed.
- Secure connection (SSL). Does your secure address work, or do visitors get a "Not secure" warning? We also check your security certificate and when it runs out.
- Made for phones. Does your site fit a phone screen, or do customers get a tiny desktop page they have to pinch and zoom?
- Speed. Google's mobile speed score for your home page, how fast your main content appears, and how quickly your server responds. If it is slow, we say what is slowing it down.
- Every way to reach you. We tap your phone number, send your contact form and follow your booking link, so we know a customer who tries to reach you actually can.
- Your content. Does the first screen say what you do? Are your hours on the page? Is the copyright year current, or does your footer look abandoned? Is your menu or price list stuck in a PDF that is hard to read on a phone? Is anything broken, like a dead link or a missing image?
- How you look in search. Your page title and the short description Google shows under your name.
What we check on your Google Business Profile
For many local businesses, the Google listing is the first thing a customer sees, before your website.
- Is it found and correct? Address, phone number, website link and hours, and whether they match your website.
- Reviews. How many you have, your rating, how recent they are and whether anyone replies.
- Photos. Photos of your own work, or only Google's street view?
- Description, posts and categories. Whether you have told customers what you do, and whether your categories match what they search for. We also look for a wrong map pin, a "temporarily closed" flag or a duplicate listing.
What Google reads behind your pages
Search engines read hidden business details in your page's code: your address, phone number and hours. When they are missing, Google has to guess. We check that they are there, that they are right and that they match your Google listing.
What the report looks like
Every report starts with a plain-English summary of where you stand and the two or three fixes that would help most. Then every finding is sorted into three groups: Fix first, Worth fixing and Looking good. For each one, the report says what we saw, why it matters to your customers, and what to do about it, in words you can hand straight to whoever looks after your site.
The report is a private page that is yours to keep. Fix things yourself, hand it to your web person, or ask us. If you would rather we fix what it finds, we will tell you what that costs, once. The report is yours either way.
You can see a sample report on our Storefront Checkup page.
